With just 30 days to go, preparations are in full swing for the 2024 North Coast Petroleum Casino Truck Show – and organisers say this year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 2, the annual show is expected to draw thousands of truckies, families and industry figures from across the country to the streets of Casino, NSW.
A massive 550 trucks are tipped to roll in for the show, with more than 200 taking part in the ever-popular Dawson’s Haulage parade through town.
There’s more than $60,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs this year, with the coveted Rig of the Show winner set to walk away with $1500 in cash and a $5000 voucher from RTE Custom Trucks.
Thanks to Omikron Auto Detailing Products, every entrant will also receive a goodie bag valued at $20,000 in total.
Organising committee spokesman Darren Goodwin said the team was thrilled to see the buzz building as the event draws near.
Goodwin said the North Coast Petroleum Casino Truck Show wasn’t just about the iron and chrome on display – it was a chance to recognise and celebrate the people behind the wheel.
“Without the support and generosity shown from our valued sponsors, our beloved Truck Show wouldn’t be what it is and we thank them wholeheartedly,” Goodwin said.
“With 550 trucks expected – 200 of them parading through the streets of Casino – the North Coast Petroleum Casino Truck Show is one event you won’t want to miss.”
This year’s event also features a new charity partner, Get Yourself Checked, a men’s health initiative founded by Followmont Transport’s Mark Tobin and Country Trucker Caps’ Brett Hanly.
Richmond Valley Council general manager Vaughan Macdonald said the council was proud to support the not-for-profit group, which aims to improve health outcomes for men across Australia, particularly around prostate cancer awareness.
As part of the campaign, a Followmont Kenworth B-double will be on display, featuring bold trailer signage promoting the messages: 1 in six, Fight Prostate Cancer, and Get Yourself Checked.
“This collaboration marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and making a meaningful difference,” Macdonald said.
“We look forward to supporting Get Yourself Checked through various initiatives and engaging our team and community in this important work.
“Together, we can help bring about positive change for those who need it most.”
A highlight of Saturday’s proceedings will be the charity auction of a custom-made 2.4m x 2.4m bar, built by Moore Trailers and designed to resemble the rear end of a trailer. Made from steel with mirror stainless ends, the bar is valued at more than $8000 and will be auctioned at 2.45pm at the Mafeking Lamp roundabout.
Proceeds will support Get Yourself Checked and other local not-for-profit organisations.
The show committee thanked Moore Trailers’ Scott Gollan for his continued support.
Last year’s auction initiative raised $24,000 for community causes, with Movember receiving $10,000 as the principal beneficiary. Steering the Future and Westpac Rescue Helicopter each received $5000, while Casino Show Society was granted $2000, and both Rappville Hall Committee and Platypus Day Club received $1000 apiece.
Adding to the 2024 line-up is the new Friday Night Lights event, sponsored by All American Custom Chrome, which will bring the CBD alive from 6pm on August 1. Locals and visitors can soak up live music from Thor Phillips and his band while checking out the lights, chrome, and local food scene.
Saturday’s entertainment includes sets from Country Mud and Pink Zinc, performing on two separate stages. There’ll also be amusement rides, face painting, and a wide range of exhibitors showcasing products and services for the transport industry.
