Man charged after fatal truck crash in Sydney’s west

A man has been charged following a two-truck collision between a pantech and prime mover in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

Emergency services were called at about 4.20am on May 23, following reports of a crash at Greystanes Road, Greystanes.

A 29-year-old man – who was a passenger in the pantech truck – died at the scene.

The driver of the pantech truck – a 25-year-old man – and the driver of the prime mover – a 45-year-old man – were not injured and taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, on Sunday, July 13, the driver of the pantech truck was issued a Court Attendance Notice for dangerous driving occasioning death – driver manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and use, permit to be used on road heavy vehicle that is unsafe.

He will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, August 28.
