Two drivers killed in truck collision in South Burnett

Queensland Police have announced that two men have died following the two-truck traffic crash in the South Burnett this morning, August 21.

Around 5.50am, police and emergency services were called to the D’Aguilar Highway at Nukku, following reports of a head-on crash between a fuel tanker and a heavy rigid transport truck.

Police said the driver of the fuel tanker, a man aged in his 50s sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the heavy rigid transport truck, a man aged in his 30s also sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

The highway currently remains closed in both directions.

Officers from the Toowoomba Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) are investigating.

Anyone with relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

Police have also made an emergency declaration at the site under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA).

The PSPA was declared at 6.15am with a 1-kilometre exclusion zone boundary in place, encompassing the Daguilar Highway and the northern end of Nukku Road and southern end of Nukku Boundary Road.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and drive with care.
