A truck driver has been charged following a fatal crash near Moree, NSW, on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 15km south of Moree, following reports of a crash at about 7.30pm.
Officers attached to New England Police District found a truck and car had collided.
The driver of the car – a 21-year-old woman – died at the scene.
The truck driver – a 24-year-old man – was uninjured and was taken to Moree Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established, and police commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit in attendance.
Following inquiries, at about 8.45am the following morning, the 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today, September 20.
