Hyundai has secured the first Australian customer for its XCIENT fuel cell truck.
Coregas will add the XCIENT into its daily operations, supported by its role as the operator of Australia’s first hydrogen refuelling facility for heavy vehicles.
Coregas opened Australia’s first hydrogen refuelling station for heavy vehicles at Port Kembla in NSW back in 2023.
The $2 million Port Kembla H2Station was built with the assistance of a $500,000 NSW Government grant.
In announcing that it has secured its first Australian XCIENT customer, Hyundai shared on LinkedIn, “This milestone is more than the arrival of a new truck. It marks a turning point for the freight and logistics sector, where the challenge of decarbonisation has been one of the toughest to solve. With long range and rapid refuelling, hydrogen trucks are well suited to the demands of heavy transport.
“The XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck demonstrates what’s possible when innovation and industry commitment come together. It’s a first for Australia, but just the beginning of what’s to come.”
Coregas added, “Coregas is proud to be the first company in the country to integrate Hyundai Motor Company’s XCIENT fuel cell truck into our operations. This partnership demonstrates how hydrogen can move beyond trials into real-world heavy transport, delivering both sustainability and performance.”
