Major national transport fleet to be auctioned following company’s collapse

Pickles will be conducting an auction offering a significant national fleet of 38 late-model prime movers and 56 curtain-side trailers to market, after Transtar entered administration.

The $6 million auction will take place across three days, from October 20-23, 2025.

The sale, under instructions from HM Advisory (Administrators Appointed to Transtar Line Haul Pty Ltd and related entities), will run online, providing operators nationwide with an opportunity to access well-maintained transport assets amid ongoing sector headwinds.

“The collapse of Transtar reflects the pressures currently being felt across the transport sector, where rising costs and tightening margins are forcing difficult decisions,” said Adam Shepard, Consulting Liquidator and Trustee, HM Advisory.

“Our focus is on ensuring an orderly sale process that maximises returns for creditors while providing opportunities for assets to be productively reused within the industry.”

Joshua Hallowell, Executive Manager – Valuation & Advisory, Pickles added, “From an industry perspective, insolvency events like this highlight both the pressures many operators are under and the importance of strong secondary markets for fleet assets.”

“The ability to realise value quickly and transparently is critical to supporting creditors and ensuring equipment remains productive within the transport network.”

Hallowell continued, “Across the board we’re seeing heightened demand for used transport equipment, particularly late-model prime movers and trailers that allow operators to expand or refresh their fleets at lower capital cost.

“This auction provides opportunities for businesses of all sizes to secure well-maintained gear at competitive prices, while also demonstrating how the secondary market plays a vital role in keeping the sector moving.”

  1. Another one bites the dust can’t keep bringing in foreign drivers and foreign ownership cutting the guts out of it just my opinion i am so sick of this industry

    1. You hit the nail on the head Warren. When is our government going to accept that they are responsible for the now chaotic transport industry in OUR county

      1. They won’t accept any responsibility due to liability reasons. we just have to see others fall and not for lack of trying. I just can’t believe the amount of new trucks on order that will see drivers in them. My accountant can’t be doing a good enough job, I can’t afford a new anything

    2. Well said Warren but the fault or blame sits squarely on our blind government. They won’t admit to their policies affecting our country and society.

  2. When you let foreign owners with bags of money, buying into small nondescript companies, proceeding to build them bigger by employing drivers with dodgy MC Licences that are their own, paying them terrible money, putting b triples and double road trains and only charging for b doubles therefore effectively undercutting legitimate rates, I don’t know what you are supposed to expect. It’s not unreasonable to expect that Companies who have been providing transport services for 5 to 6 decades and longer are going to fall over
