Inspection station closed for 24 hours following truck fire

This heavy vehicle safety station is expected to remain closed for approximately 24 hours, after a B-double’s trailer became engulfed in flames.

The Narara Rural Fire Brigade said it received notification of a truck fire at the heavy vehicle safety station on the Pacific Motorway, Mount White, at 11.24pm last night (Tuesday October 14).

“On arrival, crews found a B-double trailer fully alight, with flames threatening nearby trailers. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly worked to contain the blaze and prevent further spread,” Narara Rural Fire Brigade said in an update online.

“Overhaul operations are currently underway, and the brigade is expected to remain on scene for some time.”

Following the blaze, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) confirmed just after 10am this morning (Wednesday October 15), that the facility will remain closed today.

“During this closure, camera avoidance systems have been temporarily disabled, meaning fines for not stopping at the station will not apply, as heavy vehicles will not be able to access or stop at the site,” the NHVR said, adding that an update would be posted to its Facebook page when the site reopens.
