Tasmanian transport industry celebrates its best

The Tasmanian transport industry has come together for the recent 2025 Tasmanian Transport Association (TTA) Gala Dinner & Awards Night.

Held on Saturday October 18 at Wrest Point, Hobart, the evening recognised excellence, celebrated milestones, and honoured those who keep the state moving.

The Professional Truck Driver of the Year was awarded to two recipients – with Ian ‘Bluey’ Harrison from 7R Logistics; and Arron Cole from SeaRoad named joint winners.

“Both Bluey Harrison and Arron Cole exemplify professionalism, safety, and pride behind the wheel. Between them, decades of service, mentorship and reliability represent the very best of Tasmania’s professional driving community,” said TTA.

Retired SRT Logistics founder Jim Miller was awarded TTA’s Life Membership in recognition of 17 years of service as a TTA Director and decades of leadership within the Tasmanian transport community.

Taking out the Industry Achievement Award was Kevin ‘Brownie’ Brown at Spectrum Signs. Brownie has spent over four decades painting, lettering, scrolling and pin-striping trucks across Tasmania. TTA said the award honours his craftsmanship and his long-standing contribution to the industry’s identity and image.

For the Young Achiever Award, there were also two winners: Trent Henderson from De Bruyns Transport and Daniel Moszko from SeaRoad Logistics.

“Trent and Daniel each demonstrate the leadership and capability that define the industry’s future. Both have shown initiative, technical skill, and a commitment to continuous improvement, proving that the next generation is steering Tasmania’s transport sector forward,” said TTA.

While the Diversity & Inclusion Award went to Caitlin Garrett at Strait Link, for her pioneering work as one of Tasmania’s youngest Second Officers, combined with her The Aussie Shefarer platform encouraging women to consider maritime careers.

The event also recognised De Bruyn’s Transport, which this year celebrates 60 years; and Elphinstone Engineering, which celebrates its 50-year anniversary.

The evening also included a heartfelt tribute to Mr Robert (Bob) Thorpe OAM, a founding figure in the history of the Tasmanian Transport Association and TTA Life Member, who passed away earlier this year.
