A woman and toddler have been tragically killed in a two-truck crash on the Bruce Highway in Canoona last night.
According to a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman a female in her 20s and a toddler, two passengers in one of the trucks, were declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner sustained serious injuries and was flown to Rockhampton Hospital.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes-Benz sustained minor injuries and has been transported to hospital by road in a stable condition.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said one of the trucks was well-involved in fire, which had caused a small grassfire nearby.
Four Queensland Fire Rescue crews worked to extinguish the fire truck while two rural crews assisted in containing the grassfire.
Police said the Bruce Highway near the Canoona Rest Area is expected to remain closed for some time and all drivers are advised to seek an alternative route.
Anyone with information or relevant footage are urged to contact the police.
The Bruce Highway was also closed southbound at Moreton Bay earlier today (November 20) due to a serious motorcycle crash between Anzac Avenue and Dohles Rocks Road.
Police said motorists should avoid the area or expect significant delays.
