Outback trucking family open their property to truckies for Christmas

Danyelle and Anthony Haigh are inviting truckies who are alone on Christmas day to stop in for a great meal, great company and some friendly banter.

The well known trucking and farming couple run Murranji Water Drilling alongside their remote outback farm Athelle Outback Hideaway, where they’ve been establishing themselves as hay farmers in the middle of the dessert.

They’ve also been turning the property into a welcoming destination for visitors.

Athelle is located about 200km north of Alice Springs and the couple reside there with their two young kids.

Through their remote water drilling business, Danyelle and Anthony know all too well what it’s like to be out on the road for long stretches of time.

So with Christmas just around the corner, Danyelle and Anthony are once again inviting truckies who are on the road for Christmas and travelling through the area to join them for Christmas lunch.

“If you’re passing through our area this Christmas Day and find yourself alone with nowhere to go, we’d love for you to join us at Athelle for Christmas lunch,” said Danyelle.

“No one should be by themselves on Chrissy Day. We’ve got plenty of space, plenty of food, and plenty of company to make the day feel a little more like home. Whether you’re parked up nearby, away from family, or just needing a place to land for a few hours, you’re welcome at our table.

“I just hate the thought of any truck drivers out there, providing such a vital service to our country, being alone in the middle of the desert with nowhere to go on Christmas Day. Christmas is about love, giving back, and spending time with those who matter, not to mention enjoying some delicious food!”
