Driver charged after 20,000 vapes found in back of truck

A driver has been arrested and refused bail after NSW Police discovered 20,000 vapes hidden in the rear of his truck yesterday.

Officers from the Traffic Operations Group intercepted the vehicle on the Hume Highway at Bowna in the Riverina’s southeast, as part of the on-going Operation Convoy targeting heavy vehicle offences.

He was stopped for random breath and drug testing.

On speaking to the driver, who did not hold a valid licence, officers made further enquires and discovered 20,000 vapes in the rear of the vehicle hidden under other items.

The driver was arrested and taken to Holbrook Police Station where he was charged with Driving with his visiting privileges withdrawn and deal with property proceeds of crime.

NSW Police told Big Rigs the man, Yangjie Li, appeared in Court today and was formally refused bail and will next appear at Albury Local Court on January 21, 2026.
