An Isuzu that Matt Lunn purchased 17 years ago has been such a dependable workhorse that in late 2025 he purchased a new model.
The 48-year-old is based in Townsville and his business is Lunn’s Plumbing and Construction.
“The old Isuzu was a ripper and had 380,000km on the clock without much trouble but I travel around northern and western Queensland and it was time for an upgrade. But I have also kept the other one,” Matt said.
Ironically Big Rigs had done a story on Matt and the first Isuzu all those years ago and he mentioned that when I saw him unexpectedly in December.
Matt had travelled extensively in the old lady going as far as Brisbane down south and Cloncurry out west.
“I reckon the worst road I have been on is between Richmond and Cloncurry along the Flinders Highway,” he said.
A companion on some of his trips is his trusty blue heeler dog Tilly and he does get some assistance around town from his 24-year-old daughter Tiarna.
A connoisseur of fine food, Matt said he likes stopping at the Liberty Roadhouse in Richmond.
“They serve up a good meal there and I also like eating hamburgers from the BP Cluden,” he said.
Before starting this business, Matt owned two Volvo trucks hauling machinery.
