OSOM restrictions extended for Queensland’s Central West

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has advised that all state controlled roads within the Central West District will be closed to Oversize Overmass vehicles with a width greater than 3.5 metres until 12pm on January 28.

Restrictions were put into place from 8.45am on Monday January 12 and were due to be lifted on January 23, however this has since been extended.

TMR says the restriction is due to ongoing widespread rain resulting in wet and soft shoulders which are unable to carry traffic without causing safety issues to the travelling public and substantial damage to the road shoulders.

The Central West District comprises the local government authorities of Barcaldine Regional, Barcoo, Blackall / Tambo Regional, Boulia, Diamantina, Longreach Regional and Winton.

This temporary restriction takes precedence over any current excess dimension permits for the duration of the restriction.
