Southbound truckies can expect major disruptions on the Sunshine Coast section of the Bruce Highway after machinery seriously damaged an overpass bridge at Tanawha earlier today.
Large chunks of debris and concrete can be seen scattered across the highway after an excavator struck the Ilkely Rd overpass bridge, which as a clearance of 5.4m.
A QAS spokeswoman said paramedics were assessing the truck driver and the occupant of another car, bur no injuries were reported.

All southbound traffic was being diverted via Maroochydore Road. Ilkley Road is also closed.
“The Bruce Hwy is closed southbound near Tanawha due to a serious traffic crash,” a police spokesperson said.
“Diversions are being put in place via Tanawha Tourist Dr.
“Heavy delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
Reports say the incident has caused major gridlock with traffic at a standstill from Tanawha to Rosemount.
