Delays ahead for truckies on Gwydir Highway for slope work

Truckies are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week on the Gwydir Highway on the Gibraltar Range, NSW, to stabilise three slopes and reduce the impacts of future weather events.

Starting Monday, February 23, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) said work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm and is expected to be completed by Saturday, March 21, weather permitting. There will be no work on Sundays or public holidays.

Single lane, alternating traffic flow arrangements and a reduced speed limit of 60km/h will be in place during work hours for the safety of workers and road users.

Additionally, these traffic arrangements will be in place 24 hours a day at slope one from Monday, March 2, to Friday, March 6, for the safety of workers and road users.

Oversize and overmass vehicles more than 3.5 metres wide intending to travel through the work sites must call the project team on 0409 293 187 at least 24 hours prior to travel.

Drivers are advised to allow up to five minutes’ extra travel time, drive to traffic conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
