A respected transport business has closed its doors after more than two decades on the road, with their fleet of trucks and trailers about to go under the hammer.
Based in Albury Wodonga, McGrory’s Transport was started by owners Brian and Jenine McGrory in 2000, with a single prime mover.
Over the past 26 years, McGrory’s Transport has grown into a well-known family operated business servicing customers across Victoria, NSW, and Queensland – providing daily general freight, specialised transport, container handling, container sales and hire, de-stuffing, wharf services, warehousing and distribution, as well as oversized load services.
At its peak, McGrory’s Transport had around 25 trucks on the road and became a recognised name in the local and broader transport industry.
Now, Brian and Jenine have made the decision to retire and move into the next chapter of their lives.
Their retirement is being marked by a major online fleet auction through Pickles.
The McGrory’s Transport Retirement Auction will be conducted online by Pickles from Tuesday, May 19 at 9am AEST to Thursday, 21 May at 3pm AEST, with inspections available at 278 Whytes Road, Baranduda, Victoria on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20 from 10am to 3pm.
The sale includes a significant fleet of heavy transport assets, including 14 prime movers and 30 trailers, alongside additional general goods and equipment. Key assets listed include late-model Kenworth prime movers, Maxitrans trailers, skel trailers, flat tops, curtainsiders, and other transport equipment.
Brian McGrory said the auction was a fitting way to bring the business to bring the business he and Jenine started to a close.
“This business has been a huge part of my life and our family’s life for more than 25 years. We started with one truck and built it from there, and I’m proud of the name we created and the customers we’ve looked after along the way,” Brian said.
“It’s the right time for me to retire and enjoy the next stage of life. The gear has worked hard, but it has also been looked after, and I hope it goes on to support other transport operators, owner-drivers and businesses for many years to come.”
