The team at Townsville Logistics are putting weeks of training on the line this weekend for a cause close to their hearts.
This Sunday (June 7), 20 staff will lace up for the 54th running of The Townsville Road Runners Castle Hill Foot Race – formerly known as the King Of The Castle – to take on the big climb, running or walking, in support of those who can’t.
One of the fleet’s staff members, Carolina Fernandez, has a son, Liam, living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and this year Townsville Logistics is also fundraising for Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation.
For many boys, the condition leads to the loss of the ability to walk or run by around age 12, which is a key motivation behind the challenge, Townsville Logistics said.
Carolina and Liam will be taking part this weekend, completing the testing Castle Hill climb together with the support of the Townsville Logistics team.
“The event also aligns with our focus on health and wellbeing by encouraging our people to get involved, support one another and make time for their wellbeing,” the company said.
Through its online fundraising platform, Townsville Logistics will match all donations dollar for dollar, further increasing funds for the foundation.
“As this is a charity that isn’t widely known, this initiative also helps raise awareness of the condition and the need for continued research.”
