Based at the Burdekin region of the tropics, Taylor Coburn had stopped in his DAF in the main street of Cardwell when Big Rigs saw him.
The 42-year-old Taylor works for Drains and Haulage and was transporting a demountable building.
“I picked it up from a site along the Palmerston Highway and am taking it back to ATCO in Townsville,” he said.
Taylor had travelled in a convoy with two other trucks and I had followed them for a distance from past Innisfail to Cardwell.
“I lost a wide load flag along the way and have to replace it,” he said.
After a 30-minute stay at seaside Cardwell, Taylor took off heading south.
Taylor said most of the Bruce Highway was a challenge to drive along.
“The section around Tully is really bad,” he said.
Outside work Taylor enjoys an idyllic lifestyle and often spends recreation at a family hut beside Plantation Creek in the Burdekin which is abundant with fish and crabs.
“I chase Mangrove Jack fish and the whiting are running hot at the moment,” he said.
Taylor follows the reigning NRL premiers, the Brisbane Broncos.
